Watering Your Gifts And Ideas

Let me be the first to say, I am NOT a plant mom.  I'll take faux plants over live ones, ANY DAY.

But recently, my dad gave my girls a money tree plant after their recital, and I knew I was going to have to at least attempt to keep them alive.

I was doing good for a while, watering them here and there, but last week when I stopped to look at them, the poor things were hanging on for dear life. I mean brown droopy leaves and all.

My first thought wasn't to toss them, but to water them and see if I could revive them before my kids noticed!

The moment I started watering them, I realized how much water they were soaking up, and I knew I had neglected them for far too long.  It felt like I was pouring forever!

This made me think about how we sometimes neglect the gifts and ideas that God gives us and eventually they start to lose life. Not die - because there's a difference!

Lose life as in: the excitement fades, the passion starts to feel distant, and what once felt fresh and full of potential now feels buried under busyness, fear, or distraction.

I just want to remind you that just like those plants, the gifts and ideas God placed inside of you are still there. All it takes is being intentional about pouring into them again so they can spring back to life.

You don't have to scrap the whole idea.
You don't have to start-second guessing if your calling has changed.
You don't have to give up on the dreams and goals that once brought you excitement.

You can get back to it and revive all that appears to have withered away.

My advice to you? Water your seeds and allow God time to make them grow. You'd be surprised at how quickly things can bounce back.

So on point and needed. I appreciate your obedience to share this. I have been through a lot of drama, trauma, and loss over the last year. And God reminded me to strengthen what remains. He told me that he would take my obedience and his instruction to bring forth fruit. This was a reminder for me to keep going. What looks like it has no life just needs more attention. More of his presence to be rehydrated and revived. This time, it will be fruit that remains.
